For the next few months, we will feature one of our agents in our blog to allow our readers an opportunity to get to know our team on a more personal level.

We sat down with Brandi Croom to get some one-on-one time with her to find out who she is and what makes her special and a terrific asset to the Trout Realty, Inc team.

Brandi, where did you grow up?

~"I was born in Bend, OR, lived in Prineville for a few years and then grew up in Alaska. I've lived in Central Oregon for one year".

Why did you decide to settle in Central Oregon?

~"My parents both grew up in Central Oregon and I've always wanted to eventually move back so last year we all moved to Redmond at the same time. We love outdoor activities and milder temperatures year round so that's why we settled here".

Why did you decide to get into the real estate business?

~"I went to college to study architecture but changed to major in finance and business. I realized quickly that the path to wealth for many families was owning their own home followed by investing in real estate so I gave selling real estate a shot 12 years ago and  was hooked!"

What is your favorite part of being in the real estate business?

~"I love negotiating a great deal for my clients! Anyone can fill out an offer or put a home on the MLS but it takes skill and experience to help your clients make or save money in real estate".

What has been the most challenging part of being a real estate agent?

~"Real estate can be highly emotional for some people and seeing that play out in a negative way can mean I'm doing everything I can to smooth everything out to keep the deal moving in the direction my clients want it to. So sometimes we are part agent, part therapist!"

How do you balance your home and work life?

~"I'm present in the place that I'm at right then. If I'm with a client, then they have my undivided attention for that time and I come prepared to that meeting. I also explain to new clients from day one when I'm available and when I'm not. I have systems in place that help me run my business efficiently as well. When I'm with my family, then I'm not returning calls and emails. When I first started real estate, a mentor of mine told me never to enter your house while talking on the phone about business, even if that means you have to pull off the road a few blocks away and finish up a business call. That's stuck with me".

What are your hobbies and interests?

~"I love hiking! There are so many great trails I take my family on throughout Central Oregon. I also love to cook and make dinner at least 6 nights a week. In the past couple of years I've really enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. I've made dining room tables, beds and replaced all the trim in a house and hope to do more projects soon!"

Tell us something interesting you did that people wouldn't expect.

~"I've fostered-to-adopted two kids! I never thought growing up that would be me but I love that my husband and I grew our family in that way".

Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life with us, Brandi!
